Jagannathan a hostel owner in Coimbatore who was sought by the police in relation to a sex racket case has been found dead in well in the city. It is still unknown whether he has committed suicide. Jaganathan owned a ladies hostel in Palaranganathapuram, Peelamedu in Coimbatore where 200 working women and college girls stayed.
Jaganathan and hostel warden Punitha had taken five college girls to a restaurant pretending to celebrate the latter's birthday and there tried to give them liqor. It is said that Jaganathan then tried to misbehave with the girls and they fled the place and were afraid to give a complaint. However Rajendran a neighbour offered to help and lodged a complaint to the police, and ever since Jaganathan and Punitha have been absconding. Today in his village Alangulam, Jaganathan's body was retrieved from a well in apparent suicide.
