The son of a Chief Minister has courted controversy by saying that corruption and mafia-type nexus in the real estate sector is a positive. We are talking about Maharashtra Minister of Tourism and Environment Aditya Thackeray, who is the son of the Shiv Sena leader and Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray.
As quoted by ANI, Aditya said that there is a politician-builder nexus because of which the government has been able to reduce stamp duty and premiums. "Politicians and developers sell common things. We both sell hopes and dreams," he added.
Tearing him down with a tinge of sarcasm, a social media user named Opinion Bakery wrote, "There is a politician-mafia nexus but it should be seen positively. We've been able to create jobs in gangs because of this nexus. Politicians and mafia sell common things. We both sell fear."
The Shiv Sena leader's comments have been seen as a confession that corruption is all-pervasive in the economy.
