Veteran director K Balachander's 101st directorial venture Poi will hit the screens this weekend. Produced by Prakash Raj and distributed by Oscar Films Ravichandran, the movie features Uday Kiran, newcomer Vimala Raman, Malayalam actress Geethu Mohandoss in the lead roles.

Music is by Vidyasagar. Besides wielding the megaphone, Balachander is also enacting a powerful role in the movie.

Recently Chief Minister M Karunanidhi watched the preview of Poi in Chennai.

Impressed by the movie, the Chief Minister shot off a big letter in his party organ (Murasoli) the next day.

Heaping laurels on Balachander, Karunaidhi said, 'Since Aval Oru Thodarkathai days, I am an avid fan of Balachander. Poi is a sweet movie which appealed to me.’

The star cast in the movie was bubbling with enthusiasm while Balachander has brought out the actor in him well. The songs are also good, he said.

Indeed that is a big recommendation to watch the movie.
