The scriptwriter in M Karunanidhi is now more active than ever, one has to say. Just days after the launch of his 75th film ‘Ilaignan’, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Saturday said he would complete his 100th movie soon.

Speaking at the music launch of ‘Pensingam’, another film based on his script, in Chennai, he said, “Politics and cinema are like my two eyes. It’s hard for me to stay away from both these fields. I am hopeful that I would complete my 100th movie in another three years.”

Recalling his earlier days in Tamil film industry, he said, “There was a time when I was ignored and neglected by many. But now, I am able to give land to my brothers and sisters in the industry. I am happy and proud about it.”

In his address, Kamal Haasan said that some were criticising him for praising the Chief Minister at public functions. “What’s wrong in it,” he asked and added: “Kalaignar rightly deserves all the appreciations showered on him.”

Many big guns of Tamil film industry and Tamil Nadu politics took part in the function. Produced by Arumuganeri S P Murugesan on J Nandini Arts banner, ‘Pensingam’, with Udaykiran and Meera Jasmine in lead roles, is directed by Bali Srirangam. The film has music score by Deva.
