CM Revanth Reddy’s crucial decisions on Telangana Talli, State Anthem

On Sunday, February 4, the Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, made a significant decision to alter the state’s abbreviation from ‘TS’ to ‘TG.’ This transformative decision was officially approved during a state Cabinet meeting. Consequently, the new abbreviation, ‘TG,’ will replace the existing ‘TS’ in the Union government’s gazette.

Following the establishment of Telangana in 2014, the then TRS government had arbitrarily chosen ‘TS’ as the state’s abbreviation without adhering to any particular rules or reasoning. Minister D Sridhar Babu, while briefing the media about the Cabinet’s decisions, highlighted that the previous government’s choice lacked a systematic approach and was more of a whimsical decision. As a result of this change, vehicle registration numbers will now feature ‘TG’ as the prefix.

The Cabinet’s decision to adopt ‘TG’ aligns with an earlier announcement made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during the election campaign. He emphasized that ‘TG’ was initially replaced by ‘TS’ merely to suit the TRS party’s preferences, noting that no other state in the country incorporates ‘state’ in the alphabet component of their vehicle registration numbers.

In addition to this significant alteration, the Cabinet unveiled several other noteworthy decisions. These include changing the Telangana Talli statue to better reflect the sentiments of the Telangana people, adopting Andesri’s “Jai Jai Ho Telangana” as the state song, and designing a new state emblem in consultation with all stakeholders.

Furthermore, the Cabinet endorsed the commencement of the state Assembly session from February 8, approving the Governor’s speech. The implementation of two additional guarantees was also agreed upon after deliberation in the Assembly namely, gas cylinders for Rs 500 and free power up to 200 units to households.

Other key decisions include the initiation of a caste census in the state, the notification of Kodangal Area Development Authority, the upgradation of 65 Government ITIs as advanced technology centers, the allocation of 100 acres of land for constructing the High Court, and the formulation of guidelines to award remission to convicts. These decisions collectively signify a comprehensive and forward-looking approach by the Telangana government to address various aspects of governance and public welfare.
