Chief Minister Edappadi Palanichamy has proved his majority in the Assembly today.
After a hectic day of high drama and protests within the Assembly the Trust vote process was finally conducted not before evicting the 88 MLAs of the opposition party DMK and the eight MLAs of the Congress party staging a walk out.
Out of the 136 MLAs of the AIADMK, former Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha is no more and the Assembly Speaker P.Dhanapal can not vote in the process.
In the remaining 134 MLAs, 122 have voted in favour of Palanisamy and eleven members including the rebel leader O.Panneer Selvam, Mafor Pandiarajan and Vaigaichelvan have voted against him. One MLA of the ADMK has announced that he will not take part in the voting process today and stayed in his hometown.
In a related development, DMK leader MK Stalin with around ten MLAs of the party has reached the Raj Bhavan to meet the Governor Ch.Vidyasagar Rao and report the incidents happened in the Assembly hall today.
We have to wait for some more time to see whether Governor accepts CM Palanisamy's majority or reject it as the trust vote has been conducted after evicting the opposition party members.
