Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has donated Rs 50 lakh, the remuneration he received for the film 'Pen Singam' (which is based on his script), towards the education expenses of Arunthathiar community students.

In a statement, the DMK president said he was donating the amount at the birth centenary celebrations of his mentor and DMK founder C N Annadurai.

Karunanidhi, who has been donating money for causes he considers, deserving, gave away the remuneration he received for the movie ‘Uliyin Osai’ to be used for indigent artists.

In a simple ceremony, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who owes so much to the Tamil film industry, gave back to all those unsung technicians and behind the scenes heroes, who worked so hard but have not much to show for their long years of passion and dedication.
