Club Dancer Review
Expectations
Along with mainstream or realistic films, there are few small films which keep releasing on a frequent basis. While most of them are B-grade or non-star cast films, there are a few which really surprises to the fullest. These films have some veteran actor or director or music director associated with them. Actors like Dharmendra, Jackie Shroff, Rajesh Khanna and many more have been seen in such types of small films with no merits attached to it. This week we witness 'Club Dancer' which is produced by S.Mukherjee from the Mukherjee family (consisting of Joy Mukherjee, Kajol, Rani, Ayan, etc). The Mukerjee's are known for launching some big names in our Hindi film industry. Despite their name associated with this movie, there is no buzz nor any expectations attached.
Story
'Club Dancer' is a story of Ria (Nisha Mavani), who performs in a night club as a dancer. One day Ria's parents (Shakti Kapoor & Zareena Wahab), decide to come from their native place to her house for medical emergency. Ria gets highly nervous because she had framed up a story of being married as she feared her parents will not allow her to pursue her dreams in Mumbai. At the same time Monty (Rajbeer Singh) assassinates the Chief Minister and is on a run. Monty meets Ria and together they decide to help each other by letting Rajbeer hide in Ria's house and in return he agrees to play the role of her fake husband. Things don't turn out as easy as they had planned and the movie goes in a never-ending mode with more new tracks attached to it.
The 'Glitz' Factor
Except for hearing a few songs in the voice of veteran singer Amit Kumar and a decent support by Shakti Kapoor along with Zareena Wahab, there is not even a single glitz factor in this movie.
The 'Non-Glitz' Factor
The story is jumbled up and has lots of similarities with many films from the 80s and 90s era. Almost all the supporting actors' hams to the fullest by saying dialogues just like how a school child would say while reading from a text book. The reaction of every character in this film is dramatic and fake. There are many dialogues which are repeated again and again, probably with the intention of making the audience learn them by heart. The scenes are unnecessarily long and in many place seemed like a never ending saga. The cinematography is terrible and makes the movie look stale. Background music is jarring. Rajbeer Singh looks like a duplicate of Kabir Bedi with double sized Hercules type of body. He is like what Harman Baweja is to Hrithik Roshan. Nisha Mavani fails to act or look presentable. Zarina Wahab and Shakti Kapoor were fine in their part. Aryan Vaid was sleepwalking in the film. Ajaz Khan was wasted.
Final 'Glitz'
'Club Dancer' ends up being a disgrace to the Mukherjee family and has nothing new or interesting or engaging to offer. It's totally outdated and rotten in every aspect of film making.
