Noted cinematographer Tirunavukkarasu aka Tiru whose exotic visuals, unusual tone and angles in the trailers of Suriya's 24' has stunned the audience. Tirru has made a comeback to South Indian films after a long gap of six years for 24'.
Tirru, former associate of veteran P.C.Sreeram was introduced as a cinematographer by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in his production venture Magalir Mattum'. He went on to work with the Ulaganayagan's mega project like Hey Ram' and Aalavandhan'. He also worked with director Priyadarshan in the National award winning film Kanjeevaram'. Of late he has been working in Bollywood biggies and he has completed ten Hindi films including Gharam Masal', Aakrosh', Bhool Bhulayya' and Krish 3'.
Quiz him about the six year gap in Tamil, Tirru says he was just waiting for a good film and grabbed it when 24' came his way.
While Athreya, touted to be Suriya's first negative character has created huge expectations among movie buffs. Tirru as the cinematographer says that the highly dedicated actor took equal amount of risk for all the three roles he has played in the film.
Suriya has also produced this mega budget sci-fi entertainer under his 2D Entertainments banner. "It would have been very difficult to complete a project like 24' if we did not have a producer like Suriya" Tirru says.
"He will be there to deliver whatever is required for the film without any delay. He was highly supportive and encouraging in co-coordinating things for us. Though there are many actors who are highly dedicated to their profession Suriya is a notch higher. He is someone who practically implements his dedication." The veteran cinematographer also says that it is hard to find scripts that could make use of the rapid advancement in filmmaking technology. He said the plot and the script of 24' director Vikram Kumar had the scope to make use of the brand new techniques of film-making.
"Vikram Kumar has been eager to work with me for long but that has happened only in 24'. While he was narrating the script I called Suriya from my mobile and confirmed that I will work in the film. The script was highly satisfactory. We have completed the film and after watching it my satisfaction has doubled. A novel attempt like 24' which has been shot with new technologies will never fade out from the memories of audience. I am very happy to have worked in this film" Tirru signs off with a genuine satisfactory smile.
