Eminent cinematographer Kabir Lal of 'Pardes', 'Taal', Chiranjeevi's 'Andarivadu', and Balakrishna's 'Bhairava Dweepam' fame is all set to turn a director. He owns the pan-Indian rights of the Spanish thriller 'Julia's Eyes'. The film had made USD 20 million in its original version. And for the Telugu and Tamil remakes, Young And Free Films LLC, India’s Movie Magic, and Plus Equips Productions have come together.
"The film is all about a girl finding murderers of her twin sister. In the process of chasing the murder mystery, she even loses her eye vision. The film released in Europe was a big hit there. Produced by Guillermo del Toro under Universal Pictures, it received 91% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. This movie will also be remade in Kannada, Marathi and Malayalam languages," a statement from the makers says.
Says Kabir Lal, “Scripting works are going on. We will be making it in Telugu and Tamil languages. We are in search for an appropriate heroine since it is a women-centric film. We will soon be approaching a Southern female superstar. This will undoubtedly be on a par with Hollywood flicks. We have plans to start and release the film in 2019 itself."
Kabir is known for his stellar work for films like 'Bhairava Dweepam', where he visually created lilliputs at a time when technological advancement was inferior. He went on to bag several big-ticket films and worked with the likes of Subhash Ghai and other talented Indian directors.
