Cinematographer Chezhiyan had been a part of popular and acclaimed movies like director Bala's Paradesi and Thaarai Thappattai, Raju Murugan's national award winning flick Joker, Thamira's Retta Suzhi to name a few. He has also been known for his book on World cinema.

Last year, Chezhiyan had donned the director's hat with his debut venture Tolet, which had Santhosh, son of poet Vikramadityan in the lead role, and many others including Suseela, Tharun, Athira Pandi Lakshmi in pivotal roles. The movie had earlier been screened in many international film festivals.

Having won the national award for Best Tamil film in 2018, the movie was earlier planned as a 2018 release, but due to lack of screens, had been pushed. Now, Tolet has been announced as February 21 release. The movie is a hard hitting take on the lives of people who look out for houses for rent, in busy cities like Chennai.
