At 50.3 ˚C, this Indian city records highest ever temperature on the planet

Among the 10 Indian cities featured in the list of 15 hottest places across the globe in the last 24 hours, the Indian state of Rajasthan contributed to eight of the cities, of which Churu was placed at the top after having recorded a temperature of 50.3 degrees Celsius.

The ten Indian cities featured in the list are Churu (50.3 degrees), Ganganagar (48.8 degrees), Bikaner (48.4 degrees), Phalodi (48.2 degrees), Jaisalmer (47.8 degrees), Nowgong (47.7 degrees), Narnaul (47.6 degrees), Kota (47.5 degrees), Pilani (47.5 degrees) and Barmer (47.2 degrees). Intense heat waves are reportedly being felt across several parts of the state as early as 9 am. “Due to easterly winds at lower levels over northern parts of the country, the severity of the heatwave is very likely to decrease over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh from Sunday onwards. However, severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist over Madhya Pradesh and west Rajasthan on Monday,” the Indian Meteorological Department said.

While several people in these regions have been complaining of vomiting, diarrhea, heat stroke, and sunburns over the past few days, doctors have advised people to consume at least 3 liters of water per day, avoid food outside, and apply god sunscreen while going out as the UV index is also high.
