For all the fans of Himesh Reshammiya, there is good news. The composer/singer strikes again with 'Chup Chup Ke'. For a miniscule population that chooses to mock/ignore/crticize/hate him, let us present at least a couple of numbers in 'Chup Chup Ke' that work in a big way and we are sure that you may just about have a different point of view. A film by Priyadarshan, who has been delivering multiple hits in quick succession, 'Chup Chup Ke' is a sweet and simple comedy starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor in the lead who are well supported by the usual suspects Suneil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Om Puri and Shakti Kapoor, each of whom have now formed a special bond with the director.
With Reshammiya on the scene, it is but natural to have lyricist Sameer and DJ Akbar Sami combine together and that is indeed the case as the trio attempt at creating yet another riot. Also, when there are six original tracks along with 5 remixes, one would have expected an overdose of Reshammiya behind the mike. Well, his detractors may now have to find a different reason to criticize him as he appears in only one song [which is already a hit] and instead lets other singers croon the remaining tracks.
1) Shabe Firaq - Aare Aare (Original and remix) [Himesh Reshammiya, Tulsi Kumar]
If you watch satellite music channels regularly, chances are high that by far you must have caught 'Shabe Firaq' already that has the sound of 'Aare Aare' forming its base rhythm. Boasting of a fresh choreography and direction, the song has its inspirations from MTV and is an amazing mix of rhythm and melody. Reshammiya comes behind the song for this very number and ensures a hit status for it with his signature style of composition and singing. Remix version of the song is far racier and undoubtedly superior as Tulsi Kumar joins Reshammiya in both the versions. The tempo picks up considerably well in this fusion number that works for both the classes and the masses. A hit number that has ensured that the sales show an upward trend!
2) Dil Vich Lagya (Original and remix) [Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, Akriti Kakkar]
Akriti Kakkar, an upcoming singer, gets to croon only a few lines in 'Dil Vich Lagya Ve' but in the process of doing that ensures that she gives a good account of herself. After Amrita Kak ['Just Chill' - Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya] and Tulsi Kumar [Aksar, Tom Dick and Harry, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye], Amrita is the new female singer introduced by Reshammiya and his choice works well this time too! Sonu Nigam, who dominates the number, simply rocks as he goes full throated for a high-on-energy dance floor song. While the song has a distinct Indian flavor to it, DJ Akbar Sami's remix version adds so much spice to it that the song takes off like a rocket and gets your body shaking. For a change, there is a song by some other singer in a Himesh Reshammiya album that is one notch ahead of a Reshammiya sung song!
3) Ghoomar (Original and remix) [Kay Kay, Sunidhi Chauhan]
The album continues to bear a strong Indian flavor with the arrival of a folk based song 'Ghoomar Re'. Kay Kay, who is normally associated with soft numbers [with only a few exceptions], sings a different tune in 'Ghoomar Re' that has a Rajasthani feel to it. Sunidhi Chauhan is the female partner in this rather average sounding number that seems to be mere gap filler in the album. Call it an after-effect of numbers like 'Shabe Firaq' and 'Dil Vich' that relegate a song like 'Ghoomar' to the background, even when its rather unwanted remix arrives.
4) Aaya Re (Original and remix) [Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan]
After 'Ghoomar Re', it's the turn of 'raaga' based 'Aaya Re' to arrive. An OK number that seems
