Christopher Nolan's upcoming film 'Oppenheimer', starring Cillian Murphy, is a biopic drama about J Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who headed the project that led to the invention of the atomic bomb. We already broke to you that the film's teaser will be released soon.
Last week, it was announced that Oppenheimer is slated to hit the cinemas on 21st July 2023 with a new poster. On Thursday, the first teaser trailer of Oppenheimer debuted on the internet. Christopher Nolan is best known for his innovative ideas and complex storytelling. This time, his gimmicks have started in the teaser trailer itself.
The minute-long release date announcement video is launched in a continuous live stream loop format on Youtube and other social media as it features a countdown to the day 'The world changes forever' (referring to the film's release date). Every time we watch the teaser, the countdown reduces by one minute.
The teaser explains the basis of an atomic bomb and another voice-over says, “You gave them the power to destroy themselves and made him the most important man who ever lived.” The video ends with the line – ‘The man who moved the Earth’. The movie's footage is in monochrome.
Oppenheimer also stars Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh and Rami Malek, among others. The film is based on the scientist’s biography titled 'American Prometheus', written by Kai Bird and Martin J Sherwin. It is worth mentioning that Robert Oppenheimer learned Sanskrit in 1933 and first read the Bhagavad Gita.
