It would have been a definite treat for football fans last night as two of the most followed teams namely Portugal and Spain locked horns with each other. All eyes were on Christiano Ronaldo, and boy did he show who the boss is.
Not only that, Ronaldo became the first player to score a hat trick goal in this FIFA World Cup 2018. The match might have been a draw, but no doubt Ronaldo stole the show.
With a first penalty shot giving Ronaldo his start, there was no stopping him. However, Spain’s Diego Costa was no less in providing equal and hard competition to Portugal’s surge in power. Costa’s double goal score and Nacho’s goal(which was sort of his redemption after giving Portgual a chance penalty) culminated to a stunning tie between the teams.
Christiano Ronaldo has also become the fourth player to score consecutively in four world cups after big names such as Pele, Uwe and Miroslav Klose. And still, that late free kick that Christiano Ronaldo hit to tie the match, now that’s a takeaway. And as of now Ronaldo has scored 84 goals out of 151 international appearances for Portugal.
And also many are dazed with wonderment to see Christiano’s speed at the age of 33, much different than the man who was facing fitness issues earlier. This is definitely a sign of bigger, greater things to unfold in FIFA World Cup 2018!
