Chiyaan Vikram: Youth Envoy of the UN

  • IndiaGlitz, [Tuesday,April 12 2011]

Chiyaan Vikram has proved himself more than just another Actor. The hero recently got voted as the Youth Envoy for the UN habitat, the United Nations Human Settlement Programme. Speaking on the occasion Vikram said, “I am honoured to be a part of this prestigious organization which works towards eradication of poverty, providing sustainable urban development and improved livelihoods for the poor.” A need of the hour indeed!

The actor strongly believes that the film industry and his audience have given him so much that he wants to do something in return for the society, by carrying forward the goals and mandates of the UN Habitat. He is actively involved in various social programs and is also the brand ambassador of the ‘Sanjeevini Trust,’ and the goodwill ambassador of ‘Vidya Sudha,’ a school for children with special needs.

He is also the founder of the ‘The Vikram Foundation’ that provides aid for the disabled and the underprivileged, woman and child development. He is also the precipitator of ‘The Kasi Eye camp’ which conducts free eye surgery and has restored visions to hundreds of underprivileged across the country.

The actor does seem strong on his notion of giving back to the society, spreading across the noble message and working towards accomplishing the various goals of UN. Kudos to Chiyaan for making Chennaiites and Indians proud!
