Chiyaan Vikram & AR Rahman’s ‘Cobra’ to hit the screens on this date? – Hot buzz

Chiyaan Vikram began this year with the super hit movie ‘Mahaan’, which was released on Amazon Prime Video on February 10. The gangster drama won high acclaim from the audience and critics alike. The versatile actor has promising films lined up for release this year in the pipeline. 

Vikram is currently working on the post-production of ‘Cobra’, which completed filming a couple of months ago. The film carries high expectations as Chiyaan teamed up with talented director Ajay Gnanamuthu of ‘Demonty Colony’ and ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ fame. Recently, it was reported that the actor has signed another project with Ajay.

According to the latest sources, the makers are planning to release the movie ahead of Independence day this year. As per the reports, the team is aiming for theatrical release in the August second week. ‘Cobra’ is expected to hit the screens on August 11 (Thursday), taking advantage of the weekend before Independence Day (August 15), which falls on a Monday. 

‘Cobra’ stars Chiyaan Vikram and ‘KGF’ fame Srinidhi Shetty in the lead roles with cricketer Irfan Pathan, Roshan Andrews, Mrinalini, Malayalam actor Lal, Kanika, Padmapriya and Babu Antony in prominent roles. The action thriller has music by AR Rahman and Vikram is said to have sported 20 looks in the feature. 

On the work front, Vikram is playing Aditya Karikalan in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, which is slated to hit the screens on September 30 this year. Reportedly, the actor also has completed the dubbing works for ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’. He will soon start shooting for ‘Chiyaan 61’ to be helmed by Pa Ranjith.
