Chiyaan Vikram is all set to astonish the fans with his magnum opus 'Thangalaan' as a tribal leader following his arresting portrayal of the Chola prince in 'Ponniyin Selvan'. Meanwhile, the actor has such intriguing history-based projects in his pipeline, which never saw the light.
Vikram was supposed to play the titular roles in the ambitious projects - 'Karikalan' and 'Mahavir Karna'. While the former is believed to be discarded, we now have an official word on the status of the latter. Mahavir Karna is an epic mythological drama that reimagines the story of the godly Mahabharata warrior. It is the second film of director RS Vimal, who made the Award-winning film 'Ennu Ninte Moideen'. It was said to be made on a budget of Rs 300 crore.
Mahavir Karna kicked off as a trilingual project in December 2018 with a pooja ceremony. Chiyaan Vikram shot for a few schedules of the movie in 2019 and some BTS pictures surfaced over the internet. But reports broke out that Vikram opted out of the project and the shoot was halted. Following this, the makers launched an animated title reveal video with the name 'Suryaputra Mahavir Karna' without Chiyaan's name and it was announced to be a Pan Indian release.
Now, the maker RS Vimal has broken the silence and talked about the status of the film. He said, "The shoot for the film will start soon. Negotiations are going on within the camp. There are no other obstacles and we will be making an official announcement about the resumption of the shoot shortly." We have to wait to see if Chiyaan Vikram reprises his role or if some other actor is roped in for the lead role. Produced by Pooja Entertainment, the flick is also expected to feature Suresh Gopi and Jagan.
