Chitrangada Singh to bankroll a film based on Kargil hero Yogendra Singh Yadav

Biographical dramas based on real life war heroes have become one of the most successful genre in Bollywood. Military biopics are often inspiring, heroic as well as a safe bet for filmmakers from commercial aspect. In last one year, we have seen films like 'Shershah' and 'Major' and the latest buzz suggests that Bollywood is going to have yet another inspiring film based on the life of a Kargil war veteran.
Actress Chitrangada Singh recently shared that she is going to bankroll a film based on the life and exploits of Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav, who is the youngest recipient of Param Vir Chakra, country's higest gallentary award.
Yogendra Singh Yadav was merely a 19 year grenadier at the time of Kargil War when he showed exemplary courage and determination and captured strategically important Tiger Hill despite being shot 12 times. Talking about this project, Chitrangada said, "I’m very excited to tell stories of real heroes that are many times forgotten even though they still live amongst us. We need to glorify their journey. This will be another attempt to do what I tried with Soorma."
