Chithra Salabhangalude Veedu

In the rest of India, more and more filmmakers are coming up with fresh plots and films   that are greeted with exuberance by the viewers, making the movie hits and super hits. Films like `Taare Zameen Par' and `Tahaan', which were all based on stories about children did made profits in Bollywood. But, in the case of Malayalam it all seems much difficult for film makers to satisfy the movie goers, even if they come up with something new.

The recent trend in Mollywood doesn't favor anyone who likes to experiment and try something different.  Even when star films are finding it increasingly difficult to hold the audience, a group of new comers is coming up with a movie on a fresher plot and relatively new faces. `Chitra Salabhanagalude Veedu', expected to be on theatres by this week end, is as movie, where the crew are confident enough to grab the audience telling the story about school children.

The movie directed by debutante Krishnakumar   is all about the worlds of Muthu, a school boy studying in the tenth standard in a government school. He is the naughtiest of the group in the class, leading a bunch of his daring friends who are the problem makers of the school. His naughtiness gets on to such an extent that once he is even caught for bringing arrack in his school bag. One of the fellow students traces the bottle in his bag and Muthu is arrested by the police and is later, thrown out of the school. None among his school teachers or the society have a heart to find out what makes Muthu, such a notorious student .The film is planned as an eye opener to a society which is very prejudiced and fast in branding individuals and sidelining them.

Master Ganapathy, who made an impressive debut with `Vinodayathra', plays the central character of Muthu. Also in a key role of the movie is Lakshmi Sharma, supported in the cast lines by Maala  Aravindhan, T S Raju, Mannraj, Ambika Mohan and a bunch of children.

The movie is based on a plot by Brijesh Balakrishnan who also writes the screenplay and dialogues. The music for the film is by Unnikrishanan Wayanad while Dr Muhammad Shakkeel tunes the songs for the film. While Sreenivas does the editing, Lal Kannan debuts as cinematographer through the film. Produced by Ravi Chalissery under the banner of Seven Power Films, `Chitra Salabhanagalude Veedu' will grace select theatres by this weekend.
