Chitirai Poovey Movie Gallery

After a slew of films that centred on the ties between a father and his child, like Vaaranam Aayiram and Abhiyum Naanum, comes a flick that goes back to emphasise on the umbilical cord ties of a mother and a child. Only, the film Chithirappoove, will not stop at romanticizing the relationship, but will delve into the pitfalls of our social system.

The film, written and directed by R Kalaimurugan, will focus on the issue of female infanticide. Strongly condemning the practise of killing a girl child, the movie aims at spreading awareness about it. The movie deals with the struggle of a young mother to educate people against killing their babies. It is about how despite all government’s awareness programmes, female infanticide still plagues our society. Apart from this issue, the movie will also broach on love, but not in a crass glamourous way that it has always been dealt with.

The film has Sandeep, a new comer, pairing with Thamarai, a kannada actress. Shooting for the film, which is being produced by Sri Periyaandavar Films, has been completed, and the film is looking at a release in June.
