Last year, VV Vinayak directed the Telugu remake of the Tamil blockbuster 'Kaththi'. Megastar Chiranjeevi happily and efficiently stepped into Kollywood superstar Vijay's shoes.
The same film will now be remade in Hindi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has bought its remake rights from Lyca Productions. The buzz is that Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar could star in the remake, which will be produced on a lavish scale.
Who will wield the megaphone? Bhansali is yet to announce it. But since Murugadoss comes with a good track record in Hindi and he directed the original, 'Kaththi', he could be roped in to do the honours.
The film has all the trappings of a mass blockbuster. Both 'Kaththi' and 'Khaidi No. 150' created history in Kollywood and Tollywood. It's now Bollywood's turn.
