It has been almost a week since the trailer of Sardaar Gabbar Singh was released. In other words, it has been a week of Pawan Kalyan's fans' disappointment over SGS. It's another matter that the trailer doesn't necessarily reflect a film's true strength. Fans feel that there should have been more of the Power Star in the trailer. On the positive side, DSP's music has acted as a terrific recompense for the disapointment over the trailer.
Be that as it may, the film being released in Hindi on a massive scale has added to both excitement and a little anxiety. Eros is making sure the Hindi version of SGS will release in 800 theatres. Some of the fans opine that this shouldn't have been the film for Pawan to launch himself in Hindi.
To make the matters worse, there is a jinx. Chiranjeevi debuted in Hindi with the 1990 film Pratibandh, which was a remake of the Rajsekhar-starrer Ankusam. While Juhi Chawla walked away with all the laurels and a Filmfare Award, Chiru didn't get his due. The film, after all, was a flop.
About a quarter century later, Ram Charan delivered a disaster when he acted in a remake of Zanjeer. The Apurva Lakhia-directed movie didn't fetch even Priyanka Chopra her due. The less said about the way Charan was received, the better. It was a double whammy because the film sanked without a trace in Telugu as well.
Pawan, yet another Mega hero, is debuting in Hindi with this dubbed film. Unlike Pratibandh and Zanjeer, this one is not a straight one. Like Chiru and Ram Charan in Pratibandh and Zanjeer (respectively), Pawan is playing a cop. This is the jinx he has to break.
