Megastar Chiranjeevi's 'MEK' Season 4 is unarguably one of the greatest TV moments in the history of South India. The legendary actor as the host will rock it starting from tomorrow when the first episode will be aired at 9:30 p.m., on STAR MAA.
"The first lot will have 60 episodes, four per week. I am getting to interact with people from various walks of life - bank professionals, scholarly people, auto drivers, municipality labor, et al because of this game show," Megastar said today at the launch of STAR MAA TV logo in Hyderabad.
"I and my family used to watch Nagarjuna's MEK. I was initially reluctant to accept the offer to host the show. Hosting a show like this is not easy because it is not scripted. The host has to carry himself with spontaneity," he said.
He has already got the appreciation of none other than Big B. "Amitabh Bachchan has told me Siddhartha Basu said to him that I am doing a good job. It's a certificate from the host of KBC. I'm very happy," he said.
"One crore can bring radical change in a person's life. Recently, a female contestant who is the daughter of a municipality labor came to our show. She said that she needs lakhs of rupees for her mother's treatment. When she failed to win the amount, I felt sad. I gave away thrice the amount she won from my personal account to help her," he said. It has been an emotional journey thus far.
Is he excited about handing over the Rs. 1 Cr cheque to a contestant. "To my surprise, the very first contestant faced the 1 cr question. I won't tell you the result now. You have to wait and watch," he replied.
Nagarjuna's episode with host Chiru will be telecast on Feb 16th (Thursday). There will be a Woman's Day special with yesteryear actresses Radhika and Suhasini. Well, clearly, a lot of nostalgia is in store.
Asked if he will continue to do Television in future, Chiru said that if something exciting comes, he will. When someone asked if Balakrishna can be expected as a guest, Chiru answered with a smile, "He is a good friend of mine. I will invite Balakrishna to participate in my show. I hope he will accept my invite."
"I have seen highs and lows on my life. But they are external to me and they don't affect my mindset. I have faced insults, showered laurels, seen successes and failures. Our focus should be on our work. If someone appreciates me, I'm happy. If he talks bad about me, that's his character is what I think," the self-made icon said.
