In an interview before the release of 'Dhruva', Surender Reddy had said that he will be directing Megastar in 2017. He said that he would love to do a stylish entertainer with elements like action as the raison d'etre.

Cut to 2017, if some media reports are to be believed, Chiranjeevi has assigned him a surprising responsibility. Surender will most probably direct a biopic, a period drama at that. Paruchuri Brothers are the ones penning a Chiru film once again after 'Khaidi No. 150'. It's on the life and times of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, the famous 19th Century Telugu freedom fighter from Rayalaseema. The actor was supposed to do the movie before taking a plunge into politics way back in 2008.

Surender, who is known for modish, contemporary scripts like 'Ashok', 'Kick', 'Race Gurram' and 'Dhruva', seems to be going against the grain. Will it pay off? Only time will tell.
