One of India's best known superstars from the South is Megastar Chiranjeevi who has been ruling Telugu cinema as the numero uno star for close half a century. The 67 year old is still going strong and commanding the same fan following and box office pull.

Meanwhile rumours started circulating that Chiranjeevi was afflicted by cancer and he recovered after treatment. The evergreen superstar has clarified in Telugu on Twitter "A while ago I spoke about the need to raise awareness about cancer while inaugurating a cancer center. I told you that cancer can be prevented if you undergo regular medical tests. I was on alert and had a colon scope test. I said that non-cancerous polyps were detected and removed. I only said, 'If I hadn't done the test earlier, it would have turned out to be cancer'. That's why everyone should take precautions and undergo medical tests/screening', I only said."

Chiranjeevi slammed the rumour mongers adding "But some media organizations did not understand this properly and started scrolling and web articles saying 'I got cancer' and 'I survived due to treatment' with lack of awareness. This caused unnecessary confusion. Many well wishers are sending messages about my health. This clarification is for all of them. Also an appeal to such journalists. Don't write gibberish without understanding the subject. This has scared and hurt many people."

Chiranjeevi's next movie is 'Bholaa Shankar' the Telugu remake of the super hit Ajith Kumar starrer 'Vedhalam' directed by Siruthai Siva. The film has Keerthy Suresh in the role of Chiranjeevi's younger sister while Tamannaah is paired with him. The film directed by Meher Ramesh is expected to release on August 11th this year.
