Chiranjeevi is very much a Congressman: APCC

On Monday, AICC General Secretary and Andhra Pradesh Congress party in charge Oommen Chandy made a statement saying that Megastar Chiranjeevi is not a Congress leader anymore. The former Rajya Sabha member, who served as a Minister in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet, being described not as a Congress leader raised some eyebrows within the party.

On Tuesday, the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee issued a statement saying that Chiranjeevi is still a Congress 'vaadi'. Dr. Sake Shailajanath, in a statement, said that the actor is very much a Congressman. The Congress leader added that Chiru has been busy catering to the needs of poor cine workers who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that Chiru and his family members are pro-Congress. There is no truth in the reports that Chiranjeevi garu has distanced himself from the party. He will render political services to the Congress party in the future. There are high chances of him being active in politics, he added.

On his part, the 'Sye Raa' actor's calendar is only busy with back-to-back movies. After Koratala Siva's 'Acharya', Chiru153 will begin. The movie will be directed by Jayam Mohanraja. Its music sittings have begun. 'Veerayya' with director Bobby and a film with director Meher Ramesh are also on the cards.
