Chinmayi, the popular playback singer and dubbing artiste, is taking a plunge into union politics. Back in 2018, she was banned from the Tamil dubbing union by the then president Radharavi after she outed lyricist Varaimuthu's name as a sexual harasser. Chinmayi has since slammed Radharavi's speeches and regressive acts. It has been viewed by many that the singer was given a rap by influential men in Kollywood only because she went against Varaimuthu, who is well-networked.
She has now decided to take on Radharavi directly. Chinmayi will be contesting the dubbing union elections for the position of president, and has filed her nomination for the same, opposing the current president Radharavi.
On the professional front, Chinmayi has dubbed for Samantha in 'Jaanu' (February 7th release). Two of the songs from the movie have been rendered by her.
