Singer Chinmayi has been an active crusader of the Me Too campaign, and had accused lyricist Vairamuthu, and had taken the movement forward without much support from the industry, bringing out the accusations and confessions of many who were harassed or abused by people in the industry.
Recently after the distasteful comments of Radharavi on Nayanthara became a sensation, actress Radhika, his sister had said that she met Radharavi and condemned his words. After this, Chinmayi has tweeted to Radhika, quoting an episode from her hit serial Vani Rani, where a character misuses Me Too movement to blackmail several characters.
Chinmayi tweeted "Respected Mam, you have really worked hard to be successful in the industry. You as a woman would definitely know how powerful men harass women and the trauma. Why did you portray the Me Too movement as a blackmailing tactic in Vani Rani mam?" and added the link to the particular episode. She added that such a negative portrayal of the movement in a high TRP serial has its impact.
