Children's Day Special - Modern Tamil cinema's child artistes

November 14, the birthdate of one of the most charismatic leaders of India, Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated as Children's Day and here we take a look at some of the child artistes who rocked in recent films.

Ashwathram - 'Nandalala'

Mysskin chose Ashwathram from a 100 kids who auditioned for the pivotal role in 'Nandhalala'. The little boy proved his mettle by delivering a riveting performance just by his expressions speaking very little in the entire film.

Baby Ankitha - 'Yennai Arindhaal'

The story of Gautham Vasudev Menon's 'Yennai Arindhaal' revolved around the character of Isha played by Baby Angitha who made a great impression matching acting skills with none other than Thala Ajith.

Sara - 'Deiva Thirumagal'

As far as Vijay's 'Deiva Thirumagal' is concerned audiences were treated to a double whammy of excellent performances from Vikram as the autistic adult and Sara as his little daughter. Anyone who can fight off tears in the climax scene rendition of Sara is a stone hearted person indeed.

Baby Sadhana - 'Thanga Meengal'

Director Ram's terrific ode to the girl child , 'Thanga Meengal''s most emphatic performer is Baby Sadhana in the pivotal role who seems to be blessed with the abilty to change to the appropriate expressions as if with a switch.

Baby Nainika - 'Theri'

Thalapathy Vijay is known for his impeccable chemistry with all his costars and especially with children he becomes one of them with ease. Meena, once a child artist herself introduced her daughter Nainika in 'Theri' and what a rocking performance she gave with her "Theri Baby" dialogue becoming a rage amongst the kids.

Ramesh - 'Kaaka Muttai'

The Chinna Kaaka Muttai in the cult film was so natural that he immediately stormed into the hearts of the audiences and in the just released 'Aramm' too the National Award winner is so perfect for the role.

Kavin - 'Pasanga 2'

Pandiraj's sequel to his super hit 'Pasanga' boasts of many rocking performances from all the child actors but the one who stands out is Kavin who played the intelligent boy hurt by his parent's inablity to understand him.

Baby Sathanya - 'Nisabdham'

A very difficult role of a child broken by abuse was delivered impeccably by Baby Sathanya who deserved many awards.

Raghavan - 'Rekka'

Little Raghavan won many hearts as junior Vijay Sethupathi in 'Rekka' featuring in the lilting melody "Kanamma". His eyes expresses the undefinable love he has for his tuition teacher and many other emotions in the film.

Akshath - 'Mersal'

In Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' during the flashback scenes little Akshath played the role of his son and the chemistry between the duo was electrifying. What more can Akshath ask as S.J. Surya in the film even addresses him as Ilayathalpathy.
