Children friendly court, State sets 2 courts

An Act to protect children from offences of sexual assault, sexual harassment and pornography – POCSO law set up special courts for trial of such offences empowers the State to make special provisions for children. The state under this law has set up two special courts that has come in to effect from last Saturday.
The Supreme Court justice Madan B Lokoora inaugurated the two special courts in the presence of chief justice of Karnataka High Court SK Mukerjee, Justice Ashok B Hinchageri, Uma Mahadevan and others.
At the City Civil 5th floor (room No. 51,54 and 55) the courts are function. The cases of Bengaluru city and Bengaluru rural are handled in this POSCO court.
Already New Delhi, Goa, Telengana have set up this kind of children friendly courts. The functioning of this court is entirely different from others. Evading fear in the minds of the children is the first concentration of this court.
A separate room for guardians, the court hall of children with cozy pictures on the walls, photographs, playing dolls, food and milk facility are attached.
The court functioning will be also very cordial and nothing heartening to the children. Only in inevitable conditions the culprit suspect is shown to the children.
In Bengaluru city 750 cases and in rural 250 cases are booked under this purview.
