The Government of India is set to come down strongly on those possessing child pornography for commercial use, viewing , storage, transmission and distribution. Those found guilty would attract an immediate 5 year jail term and booked as non-bailable. A second-time offender would face 7 years rigorous imprisonment.
Amendments to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act seeks to also punish those who do not report offenses of child pornography as well including possession of pornographic pictures and videos on Whatsapp. The proposal is expected to be approved by the cabinet next week.
