Child Kidnapped from Central Station Rescued by Police

A child kidnapped from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Central Railway Station was reunited with his parents after the police rescued him. The two-year-old was at the station on Sunday night with his parents, Ram Singh and Neelavathi, daily wage workers. The couple had come to the station with their two children in order to catch an early morning train to Odisha. At 2 am, they woke up from sleep and realized their son Somanath was missing.

The Government Railway Police then investigated the matter. R. Thomas Yesudasan and team examined the CCTV footage and found that the suspect went on a train near Tambaram. It also showed him boarding a bus with the child. The team then received information from the Thiruporur police that the child was abandoned at a bus stand. After checking the identity of the child, Somanath was reunited with his parents. The police have caught the suspect Gopin Reddy (35 years) who hails from Odisha and further investigation is ongoing.
