As Ruhani Sharma awaits the release of 'Chi La Sow' very soon, the actress talks about her background, why she accepted the role in the film, her experience of working with director Rahul Ravindran and actor Sushanth and more.
"I studied in Chandigarh and have graduated in public administration. Post my graduation, I pursued modeling. It's after they saw my stills on Instagram that the makers of 'Chi La Sow' contacted me. They saw the commercials that I had done before and auditioned me for the role to find out if I am really suitable for the role," she begins saying.
In her Telugu debut, Ruhani has played someone she is not in real life. "The character I have played in the movie is very traditional. You must have seen it in the trailer. She is independent and strong. But she is not feeble. That's what is unique about her. By playing a character who is very unlike the real me, I have got to explore myself as an actor. She is inexpressive but I am generally expressive. So, she is completely different from my personality," Ruhani says.
Was not knowing the language challenging? "It was little difficult to pick up. Eventually, I was comfortable. I can now speak Telugu but very little," she says.
What about her knowledge of Telugu cinema? "I have grown up watching dubbed Telugu movies in Hindi. I have always been a huge fan of South Indian films per se," she reveals.
The beautiful lady says that she likes watching Nagarjuna's movies and Allu Arjun's entertainers. "Recently, I started watching Nani's movies, too, like 'MCA' and 'Nenu Local'. I find Telugu film industry to be very professional. Its cast and crew members are very warm and welcoming," Ruhani notes.
How was it working with Rahul Ravindran? "It was a wonderful experience. He has got clarity of vision. He knows what he wants. He is chilled out and calm. He used to explain the feel of every scene," she says. She also thanks Sushanth for the wonderful support he gave her throughout the shoot. "We used to discuss movies a lot," she says.
As a parting shot, Ruhani says that her line 'Evadu Ranbir Kapoor la undadu' from 'Chi La Sow' is very relatable.
