It has been an intense couple of hours, as TN witnessed a dramatic turn of events. Just when V.K Sasikala had inched closer to attaining the Chief Ministerial post, interim CM O. Panneerselvam, who had resigned on Sunday, turned things upside down.
O. Panneerselvam observed a 40 minute long silent tribute at Jayalalithaa's memorial. OPS who appeared forlorn, addressed the media once he finished his meditation.
A tense atmosphere was seen, with the people of TN waiting eagerly to listen to what their Chief Minister had to say.
In a bid to reveal the truth that the people deserved, Panneerselvam hinted important details that had been kept in the dark.
Quoted below is the bottom line of what he said,
- "I was continuously humiliated and ill-treated"
- "I wasn't even aware of the party meet. "
- "M. Thambidurai superseded me"
- "I am ready to fight alone for my state"
- "Only one who can protect the party and the government should be the CM"
- "Minister for Revenue, Thiru R.B Udhayakumar wanted Sasika to take over as the CM while I was still at office"
- "They threatened to take disciplinary action if I refused"
- "Minister of Health and Family Welfare approached me and said Divakaran was keen for the post of General Secretary for Chinnamma (Sasikala)"
- "I was forced to resign as the CM"
- "If the people so wish, then I'm ready to withdraw my resignation"
Panneerselvam, who is an experienced and time tested politician, has proved his worth many a time. With Panneerselvam's move invoking gargantuan attention, it is being said that Sasika is attending a meeting with a specific council of Ministers meanwhile.
Also, sources say that the Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu won't return to Chennai tomorrow, which means, OPS will remain as the interim Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
