Earlier this week, Rihanna (who commands a following of 101 million on Twitter) and Greta Thunberg supported the rich farmers' agitation of Punjab. On the night of Wednesday, Greta mistakenly put out a toolkit that was designed by unknown masterminds for use by the likes of Rihanna and herself. Ever since, the toolkit scandal has affected the credentials of the foreign celebs who have commented on an internal matter of India. Amidst this, former Union Minister and senior Congressman P Chidambaram has defended the Rihana-Greta duo.
He said that the Ministry of External Affairs should have realized that people concerned with issues of human rights and livelihoods do not recognize national boundaries. "Why did MEA comment on the military coup in Myanmar? Why is it “deeply concerning” to the MEA? Why does MEA regularly comment on issues that are “internal” to Sri Lanka and Nepal?" Chidambaram asked.
Chidambaram also asked why Narendra Modi had commented on the assault on the Capitol building in Washington in January.
