‘Chhello Show’, called The Last Film Show in English, was selected as India’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. It is a Gujarati coming of age drama film directed by Pan Nalin, which was scheduled to hit the screens on October 14.
The latest shocking news is that the child actor Rahul Koli, who played the protagonist’s friend character in the movie, passed away on October 2. The 10-year-old boy is from Hapa town in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district. He died earlier this month after months of battle with Leukemia (blood cancer). Rahul’s family held a prayer meeting for him in his hometown in Hapa village near Jamnagar.
Rahul’s father Ramu Koli drives an auto rickshaw for a living. “He was so happy and would often tell me that our lives would change after October 14 (the release date of the movie). But he left us before that. Our family is devastated. But we will watch his ‘last film show’ together on the release day on October 14 after we perform his final purification rituals,” Ramu told the media.
