Less than a week since the brutal rape and murder of 26-year-old Priyanka Reddy, whose charred body was found on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway, the Chattisgarh police on Monday found the half-burnt body of a woman in the Murka village in Raipur.
An initial probe reportedly suggests that the body had been dragged from a different place and dumped in the forest area. The identity of the body is yet to be established and post-mortem reports will reveal whether the woman was sexually harassed, according to a report from a news agency. "Efforts to identify body still on. Post-mortem report yet to come, so can't say if it was a rape. The initial probe suggests that the body was brought there from outside," an official involved in the case stated.
Barely a few hours after Priyanka Reddy's body was identified, another woman's burnt body was found in an open area on the outskirts of Shamshabad. Police have registered a case against the four accused in Priyanka Reddy's case under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC and sections of the Nirbhaya Act.
