Director Cheran has gone on a Dharna against Vishal's decision to contest R.K. Nagar byelections on the premises of the Tamil Film Producers Council office in Mount Road, Chennai.  He has demanded that Vishal should immediately resign from his post as President of the Council.
 

According to Cheran, Vishal after assuming office has not done anything for the betterment of the TFPC and instead has spent 5Crores.  He is fearing that the government would deal harshly with the members due to Vishal's sudden plunge into politics.  He has also requested the police to give the agitators protection alleging that Vishal is planning to attack them with the help of goondas.  

While only a few producers joined Cheran in the agitation the director is confident that many more will join as time goes by.
