It is known that ‘Chennakesava Reddy’ has been re-released all over. The mass action drama has also been released in the US.
The news is that it has so far mopped up about $45K (Gross) in the US from its special shows. This is much bigger than Pokiri's $16K and Jalsa's $38K. So, Balayya has pipped the record held by Pawan Kalyan in the area of re-releases.
The VV Vinayak directorial features Balayya in a power-packed role. When the film was released in 2002, both the 'Akhanda' star and the 'Aadhi' director were riding a wave. It was a genre with which they were expected to script box office history. Balayya's fans were confident that the film would exceed the records of 'Narasimha Naidu' and 'Samarasimha Reddy'.
The film has been re-released on more than 300 screens in the Telugu States and the US combined. Seventy percent of the collections will be contributed to the Basavatarakam Trust.
