It has been announced that the Govt. of Tamil Nadu would convene a Global Investors’ Meet in Chennai for 2 days from 23-24 January next year. Evincing keen interest in the initiative, chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami has allotted Rs.75 crores for the hosting of the Meet.
It may be recalled that the late chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa had organized a similar Meet with grandeur in 2015. It was announced after the Investors’ Meet that Rs.2.42 lakh crores had been promised to be invested in various sectors in the State.
At that time, it was also announced that such Meets would be held each year. However, for a variety of reasons including the ill-health of former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa (in 2016) and the volatile political scenario prevailing in the State, the Meet hadn’t been held for the past two years.
It has now been announced via a notification that the Govt. of Tamil Nadu would be holding the 2nd Global Investors’ Meet for 02 days from 23-24 January, 2019. National and international organizations/firms had been invited to take part in the Meet, it is further reported.
