In a heartbreaking incident, Subhasri Ravi, a 23-year-old techie, was killed in an accident on the 200-feet Radial stretch along the Thuraipakkam- Pallavaram road after an illegal AIADMK hoarding fell on her, causing her to lose balance and fall down. She was then run over by a tanker lorry that came behind her.

The incident happened at around 2 pm on Thursday when Subhari was returning home after taking an exam when the illegal banner erected by an AIADMK leader, C Jeyagopal, for a wedding in his family, fell on her. The life-size hoarding had pictures of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palanisamy, his deputy O Panneerselvam and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The CCTV footage of the accident has been released.

The traumatized father of Subhasri said, "Due to this banner culture, I've lost my daughter. The banner fell down on my daughter and she died on the spot. She had plans to go to Canada next month but now she has left us forever. No other parent should suffer what we are going through. The lorry driver also came in high speed and ran over my daughter. She was our strength of our family and now we have lost her."

The police have registered a case of rash driving, endangering personal safety and causing death by negligence against the tanker lorry driver. A case has also been registered against Jayagopal after a complaint was filed by the assistant engineer of the Chennai corporation under Section 4 of The Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1959, for installing the hoarding without permission, according to a report.
