The joint managing director of Tamil Nadu's Lanson Toyota, Reeta Lankalingam, committed suicide on Thursday morning at her residence in Chennai's Nungambakkam.
Reeta was found hanging in her room by her maidservants and a security guard after they broke into her room when she hadn't responded for a long time. She was immediately rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead. The reason for her suicide remains unknown as the police haven't found a suicide note yet. The Nungambakkam police reportedly told a leading news agency, "One of her employees had called our station and we immediately rushed to the spot. There are apparently three maidservants and a security guard in her house. The servants had waited for a long time for her to come out of her bedroom. They knocked her bedroom and since there was no response, they broke the door and found her hanging in her room. She had used a screen cloth to commit suicide."
Reeta's body has been sent to the Kilpauk Government Hospital for an autopsy. Further details will be disclosed upon investigation.
