It has been reported that a popular Tamil actor, his actress wife and family were trapped in a fire that broke out in a shopping mall in Chennai today and he has spoken to media how they survived the ordeal.

A fire broke out in a shopping mall in Chennai's busy Pondy Bazaar are in T. Nagar today. The Thenampet fire department rushed to the scene and were involved in extinguishing the fire.

It is learned that out of the 70 people who were trapped on the third floor of the mall was Tamil actor Shreekumar, his wife Shamitha and other family members. Both are famous lead actors in the Tamil television industry.

Shreekumar who is currently playing a prominent character in Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj told reporters that firefighters and police acted quickly and saved all those trapped. The incident has created a sensation in Chennai.
