England all-rounder Moeen Ali was one of the key reasons for the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to lift the trophy in IPL 2021. The squad's prime player is currently stuck in London ahead of the upcoming season as his visa to India has not been approved yet. The IPL 2022 is set to kickstart on March 26th with last season's finalists CSK and KKR locking horns.
CSK are scheduled to take on KKR in the opening game of the IPL 2022 season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai but the presence of the destructive all-rounder, Moeen Ali, is in question now. The team's CEO Kasi Viswanathan said the franchise or the player has no idea why his visa has been delayed but expressed confidence that the matter will be sorted out soon.
"We spoke to him about the issue and he is hoping that matter will be resolved soon.all necessary documentation has been done but don't know why his visa approval hasn't come. As soon he will get his Visa he will fly to India and join the team," Viswanathan said. Moeen Ali will have to undergo a 3-day quarantine upon arrival in India.
Meanwhile, several other Indian and overseas players have pulled out of IPL for various reasons. RCB player Glenn Maxwell won't be available for the initial games of IPL 2022 owing to his wedding. CSK's star bowler Deepak Chahar might miss the first month of the 15th edition of IPL due to injury.
