Red Alert for heavy rains in Tamil Nadu withdrawn

The Chennai Meteorological Department has withdrawn the Red Alert issued on the western ghats and its neighbouring areas expecting very heavy rains on the 7th October. It has been announced that the new depression that formed on the 4th October has weakened and is stationed at the same place removing the danger for Tamil Nadu as of now.

Mr. Balachandran the IMD regional Chief has however cautioned that isolated heavy rains are likely to continue in many parts of Tamil Nadu till October 8th. A cyclone has formed in the Arabian sea and is moving towards Yemen and there is very less chance of Kerala being affected as feared.
