Chennai: Man chops off his genitals after wife leaves him

A man from the New Washermanpet area of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, chopped off his genitals in a fit of rage after his wife left home following a quarrel.

It has been reported that 40-year-old Babu has been married to 35-year-old Devi for many years now and the couple does not have children. Arguments constantly erupted between the two of them over the issue, and Devi eventually sought a divorce and left to her mother’s place. However, she returned to her husband’s place on New Year’s eve. When a verbal altercation between them led her to move out yet again, Babu, who was in an inebriated state, chopped off his own genitals using a knife.

Babu was then shifted to the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital by his neighbours, who showed up after hearing his loud cries. The man is currently in a critical condition right now, while the police are conducting an investigation.
