Boomerang tournament fuelled by director Venkat Prabhu rocks Chennai!

Chennai is becoming the sports hub of the state with an increasing number of events and tournaments every day. Regular sporting activities help people to keep their health at best amid an unhealthy lifestyle. Boomerang is a game that is currently gaining popularity in the sub-continent.
Recently, Chennai's Evergreen Sports Academy joined hands with Karma Boomerangs to host a Boomerang tournament in Chennai. The event took place in Reddys Santoshpuram cricket ground. They had a small exhibit of boomerangs, stalls to buy boomerangs and throwing lessons for beginners. Chennai-based Indian Boomerang Champion Philip Sathyaraj was a vital part of this tournament.
The tournament had 12 participants and everyone was awarded a certificate with their scores and free boomerang of their choice then 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were awarded with trophies and cash prizes sponsored by director Venkat Prabhu. The filmmaker's encouragement of the upcoming sport is an applaudable gesture. The pictures of the same are going viral now.
Philip Sathyaraj is a boomerang athlete from Chennai. He represented India in the World Boomerang Championships 2022 held in France (Bordeaux). He finished 34th out of 74 participants from 15 different countries. He also won the 3rd place in the aesthetics competition in the boomerang decoration category. He was the Indian National Boomerang champion in 2021. He has conducted two boomerang workshops so far. One at NIT Trichy, Fetsember 2018 (National Institute of Technology) and the other one at IIT Madras Saarang 2019 ( Indian Institute of Technology).
