In one of the most biggest operations the Income Tax department has seized Rs. 163 crores in cash and 103 kg bullion from a road construction firm in Tamil Nadu. SPK and Company is a firm engaged in highways and road construction.

Reportedly officials have confirmed that this is the biggest seizure anywhere in the country. The Chennai investigation wing of Income Tax department has conducted the operation. The raids were conducted after finding evidence of tax evasion by the company which is also said to have political links.

A total of 22 premises out of which 17 in Chennai were searched by the officials. The seized cash was found in travel bags and parked cars along with numerous gold biscuits. Officials have also documents and computer hardwares and will follow up with invetigations.
