Simbu regained his place in Kollywood with the blockbuster 'Maanadu' and was recently bestowed with an honorary doctorate from Vels University. Now, the Chennai High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the Tamil Film Producers Council in a case filed by actor Simbu seeking Rs 1 crore.

Silambarasan played the lead role in Adhik Ravichandran's 2016 film, 'Anbanavan Adangathavan Asaradhavan', produced by Michael Rayappan. The makers had agreed to offer a salary of Rs 8 Crores to STR for 'AAA' and they settled an advance of Rs 1 crore 51 lakhs to the star. Then, the 'Vaanam' actor had lodged a complaint with the Actors association seeking Rs 6 crore 48 lakhs in salary balance.

On the other hand, producer Michael Rayappan had lodged a complaint with the Producers Council seeking compensation from Simbu for the loss he suffered due to delay in shooting and box-office failure. Simbu filed a petition in the Chennai High Court seeking Rs 1 crore against producer Michael Rayappan for making defamatory comments against him. The Producers Council, the Actors Association and actor Vishal were also included as respondents.

Today, the case came up for hearing again before Judge Velmurugan. The trial judge imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the Producers Council as they failed to file a written argument in the case for 1,080 days. After ordering that the amount should be paid within March 31, he adjourned the hearing to April 1.
